Ingredients

Chocolate Cake Batter

  • 75 g butter (5 tbsp)
  • 2 tsp vanilla sugar (or 1 tsp vanilla extract)
  • 100 ml water (½ cup)
  • 150 ml milk (⅔ cup)
  • 1 large egg
  • 180 g all-purpose flour (1½ cups)
  • 40 g cocoa powder (⅓ cup)
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 225 g sugar (1 cup + 2 tbsp)

Chocolate Frosting

  • 200 g dark chocolate (7 oz)
  • 600 g cream cheese (21 oz / about 2½ cups)
  • 200 ml cream (¾ cup + 1 tbsp)
  • 120 g powdered sugar (1 cup)
  • 1 chocolate bar, grated for garnish

Chocolate Cake

This rich chocolate cake is soft, moist, and deeply flavorful, made with cocoa and topped with a smooth, creamy chocolate frosting. The combination of cream cheese, dark chocolate, and whipped cream creates a luscious, balanced topping that’s both indulgent and light. Finished with chocolate shavings, it’s an easy yet impressive dessert for any occasion.

    Follow these steps

    1. Set oven to 350° F (175 °C)

    2. Melt the butter in a sauce pan and let it cool down

    3. Assemble your assistent with beater bowl and balloon whisks.

    4. Add the butter vanilla sugar, water, milk and egg to the beater bowl and mix.

    5. Mix all dry ingredients. Add these to the wet ingredients and mix smoothly on low speed.

    6. Line the cake pan with parchment paper and fill with the batter.

    7. Bake the cake in the lower part of the oven for 30-45 minutes.

    8. Let cool down and divide it into two pieces.

    9. Chop the dark chocolate and melt it in a double broiler. Set aside and let cool.

    10. Assemble your assistent with beater bowl and balloon whisks or cookie whisks.

    11. Add cream cheese (room temperature) and cream and mix.

    12. Add the melted dark chocolate and continue to mix.

    13. Add the powdered sugar and mix on low speed until the frosting is smooth and creamy.

    14. Add the frosting in between the two layers and the entire cake.

    15. Garnish with chopped or shaved chocolate.

    16. Store in the frig before serving
