Ingredients
- 100 g plant-based butter, room temperature (7 tbsp)
- 450 ml oat milk or other neutral plant-based milk (1ยพ cups + 2 tbsp)
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 11 g dry yeast (1 tbsp)
- 1 tsp salt
- 750 g flour (about 6 cups)
- Water (for brushing)
- Sesame seeds or sunflower seeds (for topping)
Homemade Burger Buns
These homemade burger buns are soft, fluffy, and perfect for grilling season, made with plant-based ingredients for a light, tender texture. Slightly sweet and topped with sesame or sunflower seeds, they bake up golden and bakery-quality every time. Ideal for burgers, sandwiches, or sliders, these buns take your cookout to the next level.
Follow these steps

Assemble the Assistent with dough roller and dough scraper.

Heat oat milk to 108 ยฐF (42 ยฐC) and add to the bowl. Note: If the stainless steel bowl is cold, you may need to warm the milk more.

Add sugar and salt. Mix on medium speed.

Sprinkle dry yeast on the top and let set for a few minutes.

Adjust the speed to low-medium, add the flour about 3/4 cup at a time.

Add butter and remaining flour.

Knead on low-medium speed for 8 minutes.

Cover and let dough rise for 1 hour.

Place dough on a well-floured surface. Form the dough into 8 large buns. Add flour as needed, but dough should remain soft.

Place buns on baking sheet, cover and let rise for 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 400 ยฐF (200 ยฐC).

Brush burger buns with water and sprinkle seeds on top.

Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the top of the bun is golden brown.
